"..Jam'n it"

Tuesday was a crazy day! So packed full of work and fun. About a month ago Dick's had their berry's on for $1 a create! crazy good deal over $3.50 savings on each! so i can never pass up a sweet bargain so i bought 15 raspberries, and 10 creates of strawberries, four blueberries, and three black berries. The blue and black berries i froze for a treat now and again and the strawberries and raspberries me and my Gma froze to make jam! I was so excited because not only have i never made my favorite type of jam, i always get conned into making apricot..which i HATE! So Tuesday at 2:00 Grams and i started the Jam'n process. Thinking we could atleast make five batches Grams had the great idea to use some rhubarb in it (wise gmas often do this to double the batches you get out of a jam batch and it doesn't taste different) so she cooked the Rhubarb and i went and bought all the gear needed, and soon we realized this was making A LOT more than we had planned!! So 15 raspberries,10 strawberries,Two Rhubarb plants, three 1/2 bags of sugar,Fifteen Pectin boxes, one bottle of lemon juice, three bottles of Karo syrup,Over 100 Jam Bottles, and three bars of butter and six 1/2 hours later we had a LITTLE more than we had expected! haha we had done FIFTEEN or Sixteen batches of Jam (we lost count!haha)

We split them evenly equaling over 50 jars of jam each!! we actually ran out of jars and had to use our quart pear bottles!
It turned out beautifully , with the help of the BEST "Jammer" i know! my lovely Grams Sherrie!
I think we may have dirtied EVERY thing in my grandmas kitchen and this is only a small portion of the disaster but lets just say it was VERY sticky! but oh so yummy worth it!
That night all the fam came over and had a pizza party, which gma topped off perfectly and made Kay dreams come true and made a yummy batch of rhubarb dumplings! mmmm

It was so much fun and i feel so thankful to have such a Rad Grams that teaches me how to be a decent homemaker! so the moral of this long blog story is...don't be surprised if each and every one of you get at least one jar of jam randomly on your door step!
On another note love when we get orders like these at work that we can be creative with! this one was so much fun! Lastly so glad it is warm enough to eat dinner outside on our new patio set! love the warm nights!

Holy Cow that is a lot of Jam!!! My husband would think he had died and gone to heaven if I made all that jam for him. Good work! Thank you also for your sweet comment on my blog. It is nice to know their are other people out their going through some of the same things I am. I just might go through a quarter life crisis as well!
