"Home Made Baby Food Please..."

Since Easton started eating baby food (about six months old) he has love love loved it. This kid will eat anything i come up with. Like every other Mom i wanted to feed him the best..and of course my bargainer in me wanted to save a Pennie too! So i decided to make my own baby food. I decided a long time ago i wanted to do this, so Lisa got me this nifty Baby food processor for one of my showers, i love it. I started in early Fall when all my friends/ family with gardens were dishing out the goods left and right..what better time to stock up, so i did.
fresh carrots from Bre's garden (these were a bugger! have to clean, peel, cut up..took me forever) cool thing about fresh carrots is my hands were orange just touching them! FULL of carotene! so healthy!
Zucchini baby food. I use ice trays makes it nice size and perfect amount, and easy to store.
Pumpkin, i just add water to make nice smooth consistency.
squash, make sure you take off all skins (choking hazard)

my neat cooker, steamer, blender this does it all!
made all these goods into baby food! (and some DELISH homemade salsa you can see above!) also remember most moms think once there baby gets used to swallowing and eating from a spoon they immediately give all the left over rice cereal away!! DON'T! i had lots left over too (he wasn't into it ) so now i mix a little in with all my food, this is a good way to get those extra grains and goods in with the already good food! Also remember to look at labels and research what is good to make into baby food..aka worth the hassle in vitamins and such. For example broccoli very good and high in vitamin c and many others, cauliflower doesn't even compare in vitamins..so scratch those things off the list.
Store like this...(bigger bags though!!, but i had no more freezer room ha ha so had to do a few small to fit in small spaces) so example of how much you save doing this, i buy two butternut squashes at $2.65 and make TWO gallon size bags full of food! you save at least four times as much! plus organic and healthy! Thing to remember: don't feed your little one too much fruit or you will change dipes like mad!!! i try to do a fruit, veggie and some sort of grain! soon-protein too!

only downfall..you have to have space to store it all! i like to take a whole day and just make tons to last me, but you could just do a few or a little at a time to solve the space problem. deep frozen food will stay good in freezer for four months (there will be frost on it,it's normal) and in fridge they say two days but i stretch that? up to you.

I took this on a day that this freezer was actually quite empty normally there is tons more Pumped milk and food!! CRAZY! (and yes that is a stuffed fish on top of my freezer..)
He loves it!!! What i have made so far: Bananas, carrots, squash, cucumber, corn, tomatoes radish, pumpkin, beets, peas,Brusselsprouts, strawberries, blueberries, pears, peaches, pineapple, apricots, kiwi, apple, avacado, sweet potatoes, green beans, oranges, and more ..that's all i can think of off the top of my head now. i want to make next: introduce more protein and do some beans, and turkey or chicken (will be sick i know but..we will try)I hope trying all these foods makes him a good eater, and a eater of everything.. if not at least he was healthy while doing it right?!

So I am in love with your food processor!! Go you!! I have to tell you that I always just fed Roy EVERYTHING and he would gobble it up. And now he is a good eater, not so great at plain meat, but he gobbles up pretty much everything I fix for him. A lot better than most 2 yr olds I know, so I would say that it definitely doesn't hurt!! Easton is getting so big! Miss you guys!
